Northshore Cup: A New Rivalry Begins!
BATHURST, N.B. – Junior hockey fans in northeastern New Brunswick can get ready for an exciting new tradition as the region’s three teams, the Chaleur Lightning, Campbellton Tigers, and Miramichi Timberwolves, launch the inaugural Northshore Cup.
This friendly challenge will see the three teams face off in 24 designated regular-season games, eight in each arena. Points earned in these matchups will determine the overall winner, with the prestigious trophy awarded to the champion at the end of the regular season.
“The Northshore Cup is made possible thanks to the proud support of Allen Paquet & Arseneau, a company with offices in all three regions,” said Roger Shannon, President of the Chaleur Lightning. “Their commitment ensures this series will not only highlight the passion for hockey in our communities but also strengthen the bonds that unite us across the North Shore.”
“With a new team in Bathurst, we now see the friendly rivalry building up between the Tigers, the Timberwolves, and the Chaleur Lightning. From now on, three great communities will have the opportunity to support their favorite team to win the Northshore Cup. No doubt this will be some exciting hockey to watch,” said Pierre Girard, owner of the Campbellton Tigers.
More than just a competition, the Northshore Cup is about pride and community. It’s a chance for three passionate fanbases to come together around their shared love of the game.
“The Northshore Cup is more than just hockey—it’s a celebration of the deep-rooted hockey passion that runs through our regions. This friendly rivalry will bring our communities together, ignite local pride, and showcase the incredible spirit of Northshore hockey fans,” said Paulin Savoie, President of the Miramichi Timberwolves.
Fans will be able to follow the standings all season long as the teams battle for regional bragging rights and the chance to hoist the first-ever Northshore Cup trophy.
