Thank you!
Dear Fans, Sponsors, Volunteers and City of Bathurst,
With sincere gratitude, the Chaleur Lightning would like to thank the entire Chaleur Region for an outstanding and memorable first season, both on and off the ice.
As our inaugural year came to a close on Saturday, April 11, the season understandably did not end in the way any of us had hoped. Facing a strong Edmundston team presented a significant challenge—one we believed we were ready to meet—but, as is often the case in hockey, circumstances unfolded differently. That said, the overwhelming turnout of fans at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre that evening sent a powerful message: our first year was a success, regardless of the final outcome.
In moments of disappointment, we were reminded to reflect on where we stood just one year ago. In only 12 short months, the growth and accomplishments of this organization have been remarkable. None of this would have been possible without the collective effort, dedication, and teamwork of so many individuals and partners.
We are especially grateful to the City of Bathurst, the Mayor and Council, and municipal staff for their exceptional support and for creating an environment that allowed our organization to succeed each day. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the local business community, whose immediate and enthusiastic backing made a tremendous difference. And, of course, we thank our fans—your passion, loyalty, and pride in this team made every moment meaningful. The bus crew in opposing arenas truly gave all our players a tremendous sense of pride to be part of the Bolts Nation.
We would also like to extend a very special thank you to our billet families. By opening your homes, your routines, and your lives to our players, you provided them with far more than just a place to stay — you gave them a true home away from home. Your support, care, and generosity played an essential role in our players’ experience this season.
To be part of a community that genuinely cares about its team, its players, staff, and the many volunteers who generously give their time is truly rewarding. That support fuels our excitement and confidence in the future of the Chaleur Lightning.
Looking ahead, the Lightning are just getting started. Plans are already underway for August, with 13 returning players, drafted players, and new additions who will join the organization following the 2026 Draft, to be held in Campbellton during the weekend of June 19, 2026. The future is bright.
On behalf of the entire Chaleur Lightning organization, thank you to our fans, sponsors, staff, volunteers, billet families, and to the City of Bathurst and the outstanding team at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. We look forward to being active in the community throughout the summer as we prepare for the season ahead. Please stay tuned for upcoming updates and announcements—we have exciting plans in store. Enjoy our year-end collection of highlights in our video.
Sincerely,
Roger Shannon
